As the year 2008 ends many people are anticipating what will happen in this forthcoming year of 2009. Well according to the Chinese calendar, this coming year is the year of the Ox.

According to Wikipedia, the Ox is the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. This powerful sign is a born leader, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. As one might guess, such people are dependable, calm, and modest. Like their animal namesake, the Ox is unswervingly patient, tireless in their work, and capable of enduring any amount of hardship without complaint.

Many people who were born on this years (19 February 1901 - 7 February 1902, 6 February 1913 - 25 January 1914, 25 January 1925 - 12 February 1926, 11 February 1937 - 30 January 1938, 29 January 1949 - 16 February 1950, 15 February 1961 - 4 February 1962, 3 February 1973 - 22 January 1974, 20 February 1985 - 8 February 1986, 7 February 1997 - 28 January 1998, 26 January 2009 - 14 February 2010, 2021 - 2022, 2033 – 2034) are anticipating to have a lucky year and looking forward to have a prosperous year. But for me, I believe that everything is permitted by God. Are you a Hillsong Fanatic?

It is quite interesting to notice nowadays that the style of praise and worship of this young generation are very much influence by Hillsong. Church music team, campus fellowship and other Christian youth organization are so much engaged to the style of music of this Australian-based praise and worship team. Well, personally as a member of a church band, most of our lineup came from Hillsong albums. The songs like Tell the World, One Way, What the World will Never Take, Take it All, Salvation is Here and Solution, to name a few are very powerful and inspiring to play and will really make you dance. Through it All, From the Inside Out, Lord of Lords, At the Cross, Ocean Will Part, Mighty to Save are some of the worship songs that my band really loves to play. The messages of these songs are very powerful and amazing. The choices of words of the songwriters are very worshipful and meaningful personally to me.

Hillsong’s style of music not only inspires bible-believing church and organization but as well as people who search for the true meaning of life. Every wording and stanzas of the songs are very awesome that tells how the Lord really loves His people. The praise and worship team Joel Houston, Ruben Morgan, Marty Sampson, and Darlene Zschech to name a few are very effective in leading the church in worship. In their testimony, they said that, “Life is all about worshipping the Lord. That is the reason why we exist in this world. Because of this reason we should always strive our best to glorify the Lord in all aspect of our lives, whether you are in the ministry or workplace.”

But even they are very successful in leading the congregation in worship; we should be reminded that Hillsong should not be the one to glorify and idolize. Let us be reminded that God used them in order to become an inspiration for every person, with different experiences in life. Let’s just thank the Lord because he used people like Hillsong solely for the glory of His Name.

Am I Emo?

Well I am not really fun of emo and actually I don’t really know what actually the word “emo” means. Well some say it is said to be some sort of music genre, some says that it is a group of people who wants solitude and wants to be alone. But somehow, subliminally I found myself engage in lots of music that they name the so-called “emo” name. Well I really like the music of Dashboard Confessionals, Second Hand Serenade, Hawthorne Heights, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to name a few. The vocals, drum fill-ins and the distortion of guitars makes every song a wonderful piece even some people are quite annoyed for this music genre. Well as of now I’m really have fun listening this emo genre thing and probably most teenagers are also fun in listening such music.

WHAT WAS THE “STAR” THE MAGI SAW WHEN CHRIST WAS BORN?

As we read the second chapter of Matthew verses 2, 7 and 9 we can see that the wise men is guided by a star that guides them to Jesus Christ. Many scholars have debated what this “star” was. I think a good argument could be made that it was a manifestation of the Shekinah glory of God. Recall this that this same glory had led the children of Israel through the wilderness for 40 years as a pillar of fire and a cloud (Read Exodus 13:21). Perhaps this “fire,” manifest high in the earth’s atmosphere, having the appearance of a large star from the vantage point of the earth’s surface, led the Magi to Christ.

The likelihood of the “star” being the Shekinah glory is supported by the fact that it would have been impossible for a single star or a confluence of stars in the stellar heavens to single out an individual dwelling in the village of Bethlehem. Only if the light of the “star” were similar to the pillar of fire that led Israel in the desert could the house be positively identified. Upon entering the house specified by the “star,” the Magi “saw the virgin birth child with his mother Mary.”(Matthew 2:11).

WHAT DOES THE NAME “JESUS” MEAN?

The angel’s pronouncement that the virgin birth of Mary’s child would be called Jesus (Luke 1:31) is full of meaning. Jesus means “the Lord saves” or “the Lord is salvation” (or, more literally, “Yahweh saves”, or “Yahweh is salvation”). This name is the counterpart of the Old Testament name “Joshua,” who led Israel out of the wilderness experience into a new land and a new life. Jesus the Savior leads us out of our spiritual wilderness experience into a new sphere of existence and a new life of fellowship with God.

WHY WAS THE VIRGIN BIRTH NECESSARY?

The scholars can think of at least five reasons why the virgin birth was absolutely necessary:

The doctrine of the virgin birth determines whether you have a natural or supernatural Jesus.

By the virgin birth, God kept Jesus from possessing a sin nature from Joseph (see 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22-24; Hebrews 4:15; 7:26)

The Old Testament makes clear that Jesus had to be both God and man as the Messiah (see Isaiah 7:14; 9:6). This could only fulfilled through the virgin birth.

Related to above, Jesus is our Kinsman-Redeemer. In Old Testament times the next of kin (one related by blood) always functioned as the kinsman-redeemer of a family member who needed redemption from jail. Jesus became related to us by blood so He could function as our Kinsman-Redeemer and rescue us from sin. This required the virgin birth.

The virgin birth was necessary in view of the prediction of Genesis 3:15 (Jesus was predicted to come from the “seed of the woman”).

Manny Pacquiao ends Oscar dela Hoya's career!!

Boxing critics just couldn't stop praising it.

"Is there any doubt that Pacquiao, the Filipino whirlwind, is the best pound-for-pound fighter? "Pacquiao entrenched himself as fighter of the year with this showing," Lance Pugmire of Los Angeles Times added.

Boxing purists, the ones who hate glossed-over matches which only aim to run up the cash register, crucified the match between the five-foot-six Pacquiao and the five-foot-10 Oscar de la Hoya. They branded it a mismatch, "a circus", and "a farce" and that de la Hoya would run over Pacquiao.

In an informal poll on Mannypacquiao.ph, 17 of 21 news and sports web sites picked de la Hoya, a 10-time champion and an Olympic gold medalist, to win.

Rafael, who predicted de la Hoya would stop Pacquiao in seven rounds, was one of the handful who ate their words in the aftermath of Pacquiao's destruction of The Golden Boy.

"Pacquiao was a master, strafing de la Hoya with brutal straight lefts all night. His speed was impressive," Rafael said.

"The critics of the welterweight fight ... called it a joke. Pugmire, who regularly covers Pacquiao in the LA Times, the US Pacific coast's most prestigious broadsheet, showered Pacquiao with praises. Prior to the bout, he was thinking of a de la Hoya win in the ninth.

In Pugmire's round-by-round analysis, he noted that statistics showed Pacquiao connected on 45 power punches. Ian Mannix, a sportswriter for the CNN/Sports Illustrated web site, hailed Pacquiao's game plan and one of his most fearsome assets - Pacquiao's strengths.

"Manny Pacquiao's stick-and-move strategy in the early rounds befuddled de la Hoya. Pacquiao would come in with one or two-punch combinations then deftly sidestep any de la Hoya flurries. As the fight wore on-and as de la Hoya began to fatigue, Pacquaio rained blows on him, fearlessly," Mannix said.

"If anything, it was Pacquiao that proved to be the more potent puncher."

Tim Dahlberg of the Associated Press wrote in his fight postmortem that he hasn't seen a fighter "(Pacquiao) win so big and another (de la Hoya) lose so much."

De la Hoya will go on to a life as a businessman and forget any thoughts of returning to the ring," Dahlberg wrote.

Bill Dwyre, Pugmire's colleague at LA Times and who was one of a few who predicted Pacquiao to win, was left in awe.

"Pacquiao did not just beat de la Hoya. Even Angelo Dundee, the trainer of boxing icons Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard among others, inferred that Pacquiao was so good he disrupted whatever de la Hoya's game plan was.

AdSense has become a popular method of placing advertising on a website because the advertisements are less intrusive than most banners, and the content of the advertisements is often relevant to the website. Currently, AdSense uses JavaScript code to incorporate the advertisements into a participating website. If the advertisements are included on a website that has not yet been crawled by the Mediabot, AdSense will temporarily display advertisements for charitable causes, also known as public service announcements (PSAs).
